Preparedness actions

The Victim Support Finland’s preparedness actions strive to be able to help victims, victims’ loved ones and witnesses in the criminal case in emergency situations.

In extensive crime situations the Victim Support Finland can start support services even outside the normal service hours or add resources to the phone and chat services. The assessment is based on how serious and urgent the consequences are for the crime victims and the scope of the situation. Such exceptionally large-scale situations may include, for example, acts of terrorism or other similar large-scale violent situations or data breaches and cyber-attacks involving a large number of victims and their loved ones.

In regional crisis situations we can also offer visitor services where someone from the Victim Support Finland can assist on site.

The Victim Support Finland informs about the services in emergency situations as soon as possible. The aim of the communication is to inform victims, the victims’ loved ones and the witnesses in the criminal case about the services of the Victim Support Finland and other actors, as well as about the victim’s rights and the victim’s position in the crimes in question.

An important part of the preparedness is the training of volunteers and employees in the preparedness tasks as well as exercises that maintain the preparedness.
